Trip to the mountain hut in summer

Only 5 minutes by car the parking lot is located at the restaurant Schneeberg in Thiersee. From there you hike the wide forest road about 1 hour to the Kala Alm. As an alternative in summer there is also the old more attractive way to the Kala Alm. Over the slim trail through the woods, over roots and meadows you reach the alpine hut faster. Once on the mountain pasture, you can pamper yourself with pancakes, gray cheese, bacon and bread, soup or Tyrolean Gröstl.

To the mountain hut Kala Alm you can also walk directly from your apartment and holidayhome at Buchauer Tyrol. The hike takes about 2h30min until the arrival at the mountain pasture.

The lighted toboggan run

Even in winter the Kala Alm is one of the popular destinations in Tyrol for the whole family. The winter trail is cleared and is used in the snowy season as a toboggan run. After the walk you can rent a sleigh at the alpine hut for downhill on the toboggan run. Strengthened by the good food of the restaurant and warmed by mulled wine you’ll experience a pleasant way down by moonlight along the toboggan run.
